Score!

I had fun shopping at 5am on Black Friday with my sister. One of the things I bought was a vacuum cleaner. Mine had just broke last week, so I was happy to find one on sale. I don't know who gets vacuum cleaners for Christmas, but I picked one up for myself. As an impulse buy, I picked up a Bissel floor sweeper for $9. It's basically a glorified dust buster with a handle. The handle telescopes to whatever length you need it. When I got it out of the box this morning, the handle was all the way down and it looked like a little child sized vacuum cleaner. A light went off in my head! I put it in the living room and said, "girls look what I got for you, would someone please vacuum that dirt over there?" They were all so excited, and took turns vacuuming my whole house.! We went out for a few hours and as soon as we got home Karianne said, "can I vacuum?" And I let her vacuum the kitchen -again. Lucy ate a snack in the kitchen a little later and got crums on the floor, I said, "Uh, oh, I think I need to vacuum..." and Karianne squealed and ran and got the vacuum and reported for duty immediately!

I'm lovin' it!!

What a bargain for $9! If I had only known, I would have bought the pink one. :-) Man, I could have put that under the Christmas Tree for them!

black friday

Here's Lucy helping me go through the sales adds on Thanksgiving. My sister and I got up at 5 am to get to the sales. Barely get what I wanted before they ran out. Whew! :-)

Thanksgiving

We went to Little Rock to have Thanksgiving with my sister and her family. Several of us had colds so I hope we didn't pass it on to anyone there. Lucy has had something going on all week and has been very cranky, it put a damper on the holiday, but we managed to eat Turkey by taking turns holding her. After dinner my sister took us to a place called the old mill and we got some pictures before our camera battery died. :-)

A little Vintage Lucy

I love vintage clothes, I would dress my girls in them all the time if I could. I found this beautiful vintage dress with matching coat and I've just been waiting for it to be could enough for her to wear it to church. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of her before church and we usually carry her in asleep when we get home from church. So these pictures were taken right after she woke up. Hair is a little messy but we got it on camera anyway.

Car Talk

Brent had this conversation with Karianne on the way to church today.

He was trying to get all the girls in their seatbelts. Karianne was taking her Build a Bear to church to show her friends. She wanted to put a seatbelt on the bear too. Brent said the Bear would be ok without a seatbelt.

Karianne:" but her heart might fall out if we get in an accident!"

Brent: "well she'll be ok, we can take her to Build a Bear and get her fixed again, but if you don't have your seatbelt and we get in and accident and your heart falls out then you could die!"

Karianne: "But then Jesus would fall out of my heart!!"

Brent: "No, he won't fall out of your heart, Jesus is always with you!"

Angie: "Jesus is EVERYWHERE!"

A day at the Museum

I took the girls to Oklahoma City to to take them to the Children's Museum there. We met up with a friend there who moved to Oklahoma City at the beginning of the summer. We played all day and had loads of fun. There was a 3 story treehouse with a slide that ran the whole 3 stories, that was a big hit. We were excited about seeing a REAL dinosaur and equally excited that he wasn't, well, too real! There were lots of hands on science projects that the kids just loved, even Lucy got into some of them. Funny things that happened that really didn't have much to do with the museum: We were in the car driving there and Karianne shouted, "hey guys do you smell that?" I put strawberry on my lips now everything smells like strawberries!
Another funny thing that happened, that was really only funny to me,
Angie fell in the toilet. :-)

A long day at the hospital

Amy was scheduled for an MRI today. I found out it may take a few hours so I asked a friend to watch the other girls for me. Because she is only 3 she had to be sedated. We had a terrible time getting the IV in and the nurses took 3 tries before they got it in. Even thought Amy had numbing cream on both her hands, she still screamed and cried and then they tried her foot and finally got it in after two poked on her foot. The poor baby, it was awful, she and I both were in tears. Her and I both rode the gurney to the radiology lab and she was quickly over the trauma of the needle sticks and laughed every time she saw us in the mirrored sphere that is on the ceiling at every hall intersection of a hospital. I held her in my arms while they tried to inject some sedation. They gave her a little and she just kept laughing and talking. I figured it was not the sedation medicine yet because it seemed to have no effect. They gave her some more, and more and finally she drifted into a peaceful sleep. I had to sit in the MRI room with her they had her head straped down and her arms straped to her sides. I was praying that she would not wake up in there. I think it lasted an hour and a half, they pulled her out and she woke up and started laughing again and continued talking like nothing ever happened. We were at the hospital for 5 hours, we were both exhausted.
They warned me that Amy would be very dizzy, in addition to that she hadn't eaten all day. So on the way home I saw her in the rear view mirror go through phases of sleepiness and dizziness. She kept groaning. I asked if she was ok and she said, "yeah". I asked if she was dizzy and she said, "no" I thought she didn't know what the word dizzy meant so I asked if she were sleepy and she said, "no". Then I asked if she felt heavy and she said "YES!"
When we got home I carried her in and put her on the floor and went to make something to eat for her. I told her she could't walk very well but I don't think she believed me.She kept getting up to do something and she'd fall flat on her face again. She laughed and said, "Momma, I keep falling!" I said, I know baby, I want you to tell me when you are getting up so I can help you!" She didn't.

I made chili for her and I put her in the chair at the table and she was very animated and talkative but her head kept bobbing. I was worried that she'd fall out of her chair. Her head would go down to the table and bounce up again. I kept asking if she were done eating and she'd say, "no, I like it! Ok...

I finally put my foot down when I saw her head on the table and it was getting harder for her to lift it up again. I picked her up and put her to bed. She was asleep before I left the room.

Why can't we swim in November?

I think Karianne was bent on making us laugh today. We picked up Brent at the airport around lunchtime. On the way home Karianne asked if she could go swimming when we got home. No, it's cold outside. She said she didn't care, she still wanted to go swimming. I told her if she really wanted to go swimming she could put her bathing suit on and stand outside, if she was ok with that then we would spray her with the hose. If she still thought it was fun then we'd get the wading pool out. Brent and I laughed, but when we got home Karianne went searching for her bathing suit. She found it and put it on and said she was ready.
I said, "Ok go play outside!" It was around 50 degrees I think. She went out and put her hands on her hips to say, "there!" and then ran back inside. She asked me to get the pool out. I said NO. She wanted to remind me we had a deal. I told her she had to stand outside for a littel longer. It really drug on for a long time. Brent and I kept telling her it was cold and she kept trying to tell us it wasn't cold. She played outside in her bathing suit for just a little bit, just enough to show us! I did spray her with the hose a little and she thought it was great, crazy kid. I finally said enough, because I didn't think I was going to win and brought her back inside. I think she is going to be into Polar Bear Swimming when she is older. :-)

Did I say Lucy is standing up now? She has been for a few weeks now, just waiting for her to figure out she can take a step at the same time too. :-)

Mr Stinky Feet

Brent is out of town this weekend. I took the girls to a "Mr. Stinky Feet" concert at the library in south Tulsa. It took 2x as long to get there than I thought because of the traffic. I was expecting to sit on the floor a la story time fashion so I was trying to get there early to get a seat. The Hardesty Public Library is huge, the concert was held in a concert hall with plenty of seating.

It was bitter cold and very windy, it was like a blizzard without the snow. The girls all got out of the van and started sqealing. I was trying to rush them to the library as quickly as possible. Lucy was in the stroller, sucking in her breath, she does that when it is windy. We left poor Amy behind quickly in our rush and I got 3 of them in the door out of the wind and turned to help Amy who was crying, not walking, and her jacket unzipped. There was a family behind her rushing to get in the door too and the mom just scooped her up and kept going and got her in the door for me.

The concert was fun. Lucy really enjoyed it, Karianne was sad because she wasn't picked to go on stage and Amy and Angie had a blast playing with the auditorium seating. I don't think those two ever looked up to notice there was a man singing on the stage! Oh well.
Can't wait for Brent to come home!

tumbleweeds!

It's tumbleweed season. When I moved to Texas as a little girl I thought I would see them everywhere. Never saw any. Now that I am in Oklahoma, who'da thought it, they're everywhere! They come in the blustery time when fall turns to winter. Right now yards and doorways are full of them. Our first year here they would pile up halfway up our door and rush in when we let the dogs in and out. It's not as bad now since they've cleared the land behind our house, but we still have a lot of them.

Lucy

You may think this isn't a very good picture of Lucy, but when you realize that a SQUIRREL took the picture, well...

Here's a better picture of Lucy.

Cooking

Karianne helped me make Banana Bread today. She was really good at cleaning up.

We're having a tea party

Lucy was finally invited to a tea party, Angie was not keen on it. She didn't want Lucy to eat all the food, or mess up her perfectly set table. Anyway, everybody else had fun. :-)
