Rose in Bloom
These are my first roses of the season. Usually when my roses bloom the wind blows them to pieces, today they got a nice long drink of rain.

a horse of course
I found this little tire horse at a yard sale yesterday. He needed a chain, but we fixed him up. Karianne felt that he needed eyes and eyebrows so she painted some on. She also put a pom pom in a hole behind his head so he now has a mane too. The horse looks better than it ever did before, I'm sure of it.

Remember Me
Remember me, Lord… come near and rescue me. From China comes a tiny plea… I long to see a mother's face… My heart is hoping for a home… Each night as I lay down to sleep, "Dear God, please send me someone, It's hard to believe love will find me… For I'm just one little boy among thousands, As I close my eyes in slumber, I'm the one little boy who's still believing So many little boys are lost among thousands of children in China who are waiting… and praying… for a family to reach across the world and take hold of their sweet little hands. Because of their gender, these orphaned children are often overlooked and go unnoticed. They are little boys who are hoping and believing that someone will remember that they are there. Every day they live on the edge of hope, crying out, "Will someone please remember me?" They are trusting us to hear their cries, see their needs, and be the answer to their prayers. If we don't see them and rescue them, who will? * excerpt from All God's Children Adoption Agency newsletter. |
A night with Peter Pan
Karianne had a date night with me last night. We went to see the play Peter Pan. She loved it. When we met all the characters after the play I thought she might want her picture with Wendy. Nope, she really wanted her picture with Captain Hook! I thought she might change her mind when she saw him, but she didn't Hook was standing right next to Peter Pan, she buzzed right by Pan and asked Captain Hook if she could have a picture with him. He obliged, what a nice bad guy.
We won't talk about how I am challenged when it comes to unfamiliar highways, construction and back roads. There was just some dangerous driving one handed with a cell phone with Brent on the other end talking me through each turn when I realized my directions took me to a road closure. I was a nervous wreck when I got to the play. But the play was great, next time, Brent drives downtown though. :-)

In old China...
Long, long ago, in old China, lived a beautiful empress. Above all things, She loved flowers, yet she seldom picked them.
It is told of the empress that one day she walked in the fields. As she passed among the flowers they heard her say,
"I will not touch you, little flowers, for if I touch you my hands may hurt you. But let me stand among you..."
When we gather flowers, we think of the empress. We will not hold them too long in our warm hands, for that makes them droop sadly. We sill put them in water. Then they will soon hold up their heads and seem to say: "Thank you for that friendly drink. Now I am quite happy to stay with you."

Baby needs a family
We have been contacted by a couple here in Ohio who is urgently seeking an adoptive family for their unborn child. This little boy will be born at the end of August and has been diagnosed as having has a chromosome 13 deletion at the 32nd band. The severity of this baby's disabilities is unknown, although this particular chromosomal disorder can cause very severe issues. Ultrasounds throughout the rest of the pregnancy may possibly reveal more specific details, but this couple is asking for a family who will commit now to adopting this child as their son, regardless of what his future holds. They want to have all pieces in place so that he can, hopefully, go home with his new family when he leaves the hospital immediately after his birth. There are no restrictions on family size or location of the adoptive family, although they are asking for a Christian family. The following is an excerpt of a letter from this couple.

A beautiful end to a beautiful day
Caught the sunset today at church. Love my new camera! BTW, I think any day is beautiful that isn't windy here in Oklahoma. Today was such a day, I cleaned out my flower beds in the yard while the girls played on their swing set. Angie and Amy have the cutest little baby talk and it is so sweet to hear them talking to each other even when they are arguing. Angie came over to me and said, "Amy mad at me". I said, "I can't do anything about that, go back and play with her." I started raking again then I heard their discussion:
Amy: "Yangie, I not mad now, I nice"
Angie: "No you MAD!"
Amy: "No I not, yook I happy now!"
Angie: "No, you BAD!"
Amy: "No I nice, Yangie I nice now"
Angie: "No you are MAD!"
Amy: "No Yangie Yook, I have a happy face, see my happy face?"
Too cute, they crack me up. Angie wanted to stay mad at Amy for being mad at her. I finally cut in and told Angie to forgive Amy and play with her. Then they ran off together with two happy faces. :-)
Pictures
The girls are drawing fools lately. I think they know I really like their family portraits so they are all drawing them now. Karianne drew our family with an elephant today. Angie drew us all under her name. It's hard to catch Amy in action. She draws on a magna doodle, shows me and promptly erases it.

Twilight Tide Pettiskirt GIVEAWAY!!!!
Adorable pettiskirt giveaway on the Grosgrain blog that I love to read. SHe just takes the greatest pictures! Just make a link to her blog post for a chance to win.
Family Portrait
I love how Angie draws people. She drew this sweet little family portrait on her paper bag coat she made at church. It went with the palm branch and we acted out throwing our coats down and waving palm branches for Jesus on Palm Sunday. I can say "we" because I am the teacher in Kiki's Treehouse, our preschool program through the Easter Holiday.
