Christmas

Brent got a remote controlled Helicopter for Christmas. It's so small you can fly it in the house, and we had a lot of fun with it when the girls went down for their nap on Christmas. Rocky found it a little threatening and kept a close eye on it, especially after it attacked him and got stuck in his beard.

snow

We got just a little snow today. It was enough for Brent and the girls to play in and for Karianne to drop down and make snow angels. She made snow angels everywhere and Angie enjoyed sitting down and just throwing snow. We had expected a lot more, but at least we got some. :-)

Ice storm part 2

We are home now, the power is on and we're awaiting our next big storm, we are supposed to get a lot of snow tonight!
We went without power for several days and we left town on Wednesday and went to Branson for a mini vacation that we had actually planned for months now, it just happened to be a really good time to get out of town! It was very nice to get away from the mess and destruction for a while. All the trees around here are either damaged or down, it is so sad. A lot of Tulsa still does not have power, but we do and we were very greatful to return home to power.
We had a nice time in Branson. No snow or ice, still pretty cold though. We did go to one show that was a variety show with magic and a ventriloquist. The girls did very well sitting through it and seemed to enjoy it. They loved the "puppets" and the magic act had a lot of birds, Karianne said she liked the birds that man "made". We actually talked to the stars of the show quite a bit after the show when they came out to shake hands and sign autographs. They wanted to hear all about our adoption of Angie and Amy and I think we sparked a fire of interest and they are going to look into adopting. It was actually the second time yesterday that someone really wanted to talk to us at length about adopting. It is strange to me that we are advocating for adoption just by "being" our family. We don't have to introduce the topic, people are so interested or just curious they approach us and ask us about our family. There's a parallel to Christianity there somewhere...
:-)

Hope to finally get our dossier off to China by the end of the year.

Ice Storm

We are in the middle of it. We have been getting hit with freezing rain for 3 days now, with at least another day to go. We haven't had power since saturday, but thank God we have running water and a fireplace. We've been camping out near the fireplace and have stayed comfortable, just very bored. :-)
We are at our church right now just to get some news and an internet connection. Apparently this is the only church in our area right now with power so it is opening as a red cross shelter.
Just thought we'd let you know we're safe, thanks for your prayers.

Visit to the State Capitol

Today we went to Oklahoma City to get the documents authenticated for Amy's adoption. We went the the State Capitol Building. It happened to be the same day that they were having their official holiday lighting ceremony and children were invited from all over to come decorate trees in the Capitol. It was VERY crowded inside.

More good news today, we found out we got a grant from Shaohannah's Hope!! What a blessing. We are so excited. It will pay off a large portion of what we still need to raise for the adoption. GOD IS GOOD!

Christmas Cookies

Tonight we made Christmas cookies. Notice the cookie in the corner loaded with M&Ms. That's Angie's cookie, she patiently loaded all the M&M's that she could onto that one cookie. Lot's of fun, big mess. :-)

Storytelling

I am doing my rotation of teaching in Kiki's Treehouse in Preschool at church this month. I told the story of Mary appearing to the angel on sunday. All this week at bedtime we get out a resin nativity set and the girls retell the story for us. They are so cute, Karianne takes the angel figure and says "don't be afraid" and Angie makes an afraid face much like this. :-) Then Karianne says "you're going to have a baby, and His name will be Jesus!" They tell the story all the way to Jesus being born. So precious. Tonight we stayed up a little later than usual with them and watched a Christmas Carol movie with them. We put them to bed, about a half hour later Karianne came out of her room and said, "but momma we didn't tell the story of Jesus tonight!"

HAPPY THANKSGIVING

"As cold water to a weary soul,

SO is good news

from a far country."

Prov. 25:25

We started the day out well, found new pictures of Amy in our inbox this morning! The girls are down for their nap and we will spread the feast when they wake up. Tomorrow is Karianne's birthday, more feasting! :-)

The Pilgrims made seven times more graves than huts. No Americans have been more impoverished than these who, nevertheless, set aside a day of thanksgiving.

November 18

We are finally moving forward again on Amy's adoption! I was given an email to contact Homeland Security about our case. A very helpful person from Homeland Security called us soon after I sent the email to help. Basically, our file had been sitting in the wrong pile for a couple months and it would have expired and we would have lost the adoption if I hadn't been able to get a hold of them!! So it is all straightened out now and hopefully we should get our paperwork back in a couple days and then we can send it off to China! Yeah!

November 9, 2007

It's been a while. We have been waiting every day for our documents to come in the mail from Homeland Security that we need to send off our dossier to CHina for Amy. It has been 3 months of waiting! It doesn't look like she will be coming home in December like we had hoped, :-( Please pray that those documents will come soon!

Karianne's 3rd Birthday is less than 2 weeks away. She is so excited about turning three. She won't even acknowedge that she is 2. If you ask her how old she is she will say, "I'll be 3 on my brithday." SHe picks out her cake and presents every time we go to the store. So cute.

I have been busy making custom girls clothes to sell and raise money for the adoption. I hope to get a website up soon for it.

The leaves are finally turning colors and falling but we are still having mild temperatures. Brent can't wait for snow.
