Consider Adoption

This was sent out by the sweet people at The Shepherd's Crook. They sponsored Amy's surgery along with Love without Boundaries while we were in the initial process of trying to get paperwork together to adopt her.

Please pray for this little boy. He is God's beautifully made child, and perhaps he was made to be in your family!
Karin

We are in need of a family for a very special little boy. He was one of the children Dr. Lazareff operated on during our April, 2007 neurosurgery trip to China. Andrew---the name he was given for our neurosurgery trip---is five years old and suffers from meningocele spina bifida. Andrew's file has been ready for adoption for a while; unfortunately, however, his orphanage did not believe anyone would want to adopt him, so they hesitated sending Andrew's file to the CCAA for him to be made available for adoption. We were so excited to hear that he had finally been made available for adoption through one of the agencies we work with!

Andrew's meningocele was repaired by Dr. Lazareff, but a recent MRI suggests that his spinal cord is tethered and that he may soon need surgery to release it. Due to his spina bifida, he suffers from paralysis of both legs and both urinary- and bowel-incontinence. Here is the write-up provided to the agency by his orphanage:
"This tender and sweet little boy has an estimated birth date of August 26, 2003. He was found abandoned at the entrance to the waiting room at the long-distance central bus station on August 26, 2006. He has meningocele. Both his lower limbs were unable to walk, and he had urinary and fecal incontinence. He is an extremely sensible child. During his time at the orphanage, he was able to get along well with the other little children, knowing how to accommodate. Additionally, he’s a quick thinker; his reactions are fast, and he can also say some absolutely adorable things. If he sees a nanny, he will take the initiative to greet the nanny. He can also praise a person for being beautiful. He is outgoing, and his self-respect is very strong. If he does something wrong, he doesn’t wait for you to go scold him; tears are already welled up in his eyes, and he looks at you with a pitiful look, calling for you so that you don’t have the heart to go and scold him. In April of 2007, he had surgery and treatment at the Shanghai Children’s Medical Sciences Center. Currently, he can walk when using a walker for support. Everyday he wants to exercise at a fixed time. He knows that as long as he is able to walk, later on he will have broader horizons. He especially likes cars. He says that when he grows up he also wants to learn how to drive. When he has played with the toy car, he tells the nanny to help him put it away; he is always afraid it will get lost. This sensitive little boy longs for a family of his own. He often tells the caregiver he wants to have a mommy and daddy and his face beams with pride when uses his walker to get from one point to another. He has touched the hearts of all who have met with his bright and smart personality. He may have limits physically, but given the opportunity provided by an adoptive family, this boy is destined to do great things."
Please consider whether or not yours might be the family for sweet Andrew. When we provide surgeries for the orphans in China, we are aware of the fact that it is essentially a temporary help for them and that they truly need lifelong medical care, the love of a family, and the opportunity to know and learn about God. Now that Andrew is ready for adoption, we are praying fervently that God will move the hearts of his parents to come forward quickly and adopt this little guy. Please pray with us and pass his info on to anyone who might be a good match for him!
